Luis de la Cruz

San Antonio
Firefighter & Political Cartoonist

I'm a single father of two wonderful kids, Marielena and Noah, six and two, respectively.

Born in El Paso, Texas, I made my home in Los Angeles, California, for ten years after graduating from Occidental College where I majored in Art History and Visual Art. During my years in Southern California I took art courses at Art Center College of Design and Pasadena City College, expanding my skills and exploring new mediums while taking on various freelance jobs, including t-shirt designs, logos and personal portraits for private individuals and organizations.

For a daytime job I tutored and worked as a Spanish Teacher at St Francis High School in La Canada, California. I eventually changed careers and moved to Texas where I'm now a firefighter for the city of Georgetown, Texas.

I continue working as a freelance illustrator, creating hand made costumes, cartoons, comic books, pen and ink portraits, as well as oil paintings and watercolors. My website highlights some of my best work, including short stories and memoirs inspired by some of my favorite writers.
