Jeannette MacDougall

Painting and mixed media

Jeannette MacDougall is a professional studio artist and art consultant. For more than 30 years she has been an art instructor for the Southwest School of Art. MacDougall is a former Resident Director at Moulin a Nef, an artist residency program in Auvillar, France.

She currently serves as curator for Intermezzo Gallery in Comfort TX.

Her current mixed media encaustic work evolved from years of exploring alternative painting techniques. "I have been searching for the ideal mix of natural materials that work well together and allow me to build surface texture yet keep the transparency I like. And so It was with Venetian plaster & beeswax that I found the perfect bond."

Jeannette's current contemporary landscapes reflect her concerns for global environmental issues in the ongoing series "Unnatural Causes." This body of work portrays a bittersweet contrast in the beauty of the land and the marred layers of color and embedded materials.

Several of Jeannette's paintings can be seen at the historic Herff farm house; 33 Herff Rd, Boerne Texas.
